Piedmont is an unincorporated community straddling the Anderson-Greenville county line along the Saluda River, grown up around the historic Piedmont Manufacturing Company mill. Because Piedmont is unincorporated, there is no separate town hall or downtown business district -- residents and property owners here fall under Anderson County (or Greenville County, depending on exactly which side of the river a property sits) rather than a town of their own. • Occasional winter ice storms. Anderson County does not get heavy snow load, but a winter ice storm rolls through most years, coating roads, driveways and power lines. That combination of icy pavement and downed limbs makes some routes temporarily unsafe for a loaded delivery truck — we reschedule around it rather than risk the roads, and we prioritize customers dealing with downed-limb cleanup once conditions clear.
• Storm debris and downed limbs. Both thunderstorm season and an ice event leave the same kind of mess behind — broken limbs, brush and general yard debris. Tell us if that is what is filling the container and we will size it accordingly; a size built for household junk can fill up fast with wet brush and heavy limb sections.
• Gate codes and access. A handful of newer Piedmont subdivisions have a gated or code-controlled entrance. If yours does, have a code or a call-ahead arranged so our driver isn't stuck waiting at the entrance on delivery day.
